DIFFERENT TYPES OF LIFTING CERTIFICATES

So, your safety officer has told you that you need a safety certificate—but what exactly is it, and which type do you need?

Different Types of Certificates

All Lifting - Testing - Certificates

Test Certificate

A test certificate is issued when lifting or rigging equipment undergoes a physical proof test. This test ensures that the equipment meets the required safety standards and can handle the designated load. At All Lifting, we offer both in-house testing at our locations and on-site testing at your worksite, depending on your requirements.

Each type of lifting, rigging, and height safety equipment may fall under different Australian Standards. Our expert specialists conduct all load testing to guarantee compliance, giving you confidence that your equipment is safe and certified.

Mill Certificate

A Mill certificate is provided directly by the manufacturer for wire rope. This document includes key details such as:

  • Size, length, and diameter

  • Grade and finish

  • Material composition and lubrication

  • Type of core and lay

  • Minimum breaking force

This certificate is essential to verify the quality and strength of wire ropes before they are put into service.

Visual Inspection Certificate

A visual inspection certificate is issued after a thorough visual assessment of equipment. Unlike a proof test, this inspection does not involve load testing. However, some brand-new equipment may still require a full proof test before being put into use. This certificate is typically used for fabricated items such as:

  • Lifting beams

  • Cages

  • Bins

In some cases, rather than listing all equipment on a register, a separate certificate may be required for individual items.

Inspection Register

n inspection register records the latest test and tagging details for your equipment. It includes vital information such as:

  • Serial numbers

  • Equipment descriptions

  • Next inspection due date

Keeping this register up to date is crucial for maintaining compliance and safety.

At All Lifting, we offer a 24/7 online portal through our ATEAM system, allowing you to access your inspection reports anytime. This system also sends automated reminders for upcoming inspections, helping you stay on top of compliance without the hassle.

All Lifting - Testing

At All lifting we care about providing excellent customer service; we always aim to minimise downtime while your gear is being inspected. We understand that time is precious, and that fast turnaround is always a requirement. We will help you to make sure that your equipment meets all relevant standards.

The Australian standards specify anyone inspecting lifting, rigging and height safety equipment must be properly trained and qualified in both, theory and practical knowledge. Inspectors need to be able to identify each standard that belongs to the item they are inspecting.

It’s important to keep in mind brand-new gear also needs to be tested and certified. Additionally, even if the equipment has been in service for a long period of time, you still need to get your equipment checked and certified regularly to prevent accidents.
