CUSTOM MADE 85 TONNE ADJUSTABLE SPREADER BEAM FOR THE NORTH EAST LINK PROJECT

Project Overview:

The North East Link is a innovative 6.5 km underground infrastructure project in Melbourne, Australia which aims to connect the M80 Ring Road to the Eastern Freeway. As part of this ambitious venture, the project's engineering firm, Spark Consortium, required a specialised lifting solution for various tasks within the tunnel. These tasks included the handling of heavy machinery and other substantial components. To meet these specific needs, All Lifting was entrusted with the creation of a custom made 85 Tonne Adjustable Spreader Beam.

The Challenge:

The complex nature of the North East Link project demanded a lifting solution that could safely manage the transportation and installation of heavy machinery, equipment, and components within the tunnel. A custom-designed and fabricated lifting beam was the answer to this challenge. Furthermore, to meet this challenge, we designed and fabricated this custom lifting beam that followed strict safety protocols and met the Australian Standards.

The Solution:

Here at All Lifting we are a well renowned Australian owned company who specialises in lifting, rigging, and fabrication, hence, we were chosen to design and manufacture the specialised 85 Tonne lifting beam. This fabricated lifting beam features a swivel center lifting point that was engineered to safely hoist machinery and heavy loads while ensuring the utmost security. It was crucial that the beam could handle the weight of machinery and equipment within the tunnel with confidence and precision.

Key Details:

  • Custom Fabrication: All Lifting's team of experts embarked on the journey to design, engineer, and fabricate the 85 Tonne lifting beam. This impressive beam was manufactured entirely in-house at All Lifting's Campbellfield site, showcasing our company's ability to provide comprehensive solutions from start to finish.
  • Precision and Quality: The 85 Tonne lifting beam boasts impeccable design and fabrication, ensuring the highest level of quality and performance. Its durability and load-bearing capacity were paramount.
  • Rigorous Testing: Prior to deployment, the lifting beam underwent rigorous testing to ensure its structural integrity and load-bearing capability. It was proof-loaded to nearly 100 tons, reaffirming its robustness and reliability.
  • Size and Weight: The beam is a significant engineering achievement, weighing approximately 7 tons and measuring an impressive 10.5 meters in length. Its substantial size aligns with the demands of the North East Link project.

 Conclusion:

The custom 85 Tonne Lifting Beam from All Lifting plays a crucial role in the success of the North East Link project. Its exceptional capacity to safely and efficiently manage heavy machinery and components is pivotal to the seamless execution of this complex underground infrastructure initiative. The fabrication of this remarkable lifting solution showcases All Lifting's expertise in engineering, design, and in-house manufacturing, positioning us as a trusted partner for large and technical projects in a variety of different industries.
